Jazz portrait photographer in Hamburg

I don't want my portraits simply to illustrate the music. I'm interested in revealing something of the person behind it.

I create distinctive portraits of jazz musicians and bands for press kits, artist websites, album releases and promotional campaigns. Based in Hamburg, I work with international musicians visiting the city as well as artists from Hamburg's jazz scene.

Each session is focused and flexible. I bring a compact lighting setup directly to the musician – to a concert hall, backstage, rehearsal space or another suitable location. This makes it possible to create carefully composed portraits without taking musicians far from the context in which they work.

My approach combines the precision of studio portraiture with the atmosphere of the jazz scene. I'm looking for images that feel personal and distinctive rather than like standard publicity shots.

Since 2018, I have photographed more than 150 jazz musicians, from emerging artists to internationally established players. Each session is tailored to the musician, the occasion and the intended use of the images.

Portrait sessions in Hamburg can be arranged around concerts, tours or other dates in the city.
